The Journey of a Spiritual Teacher
I have been reflecting on a recent conversation with an old acquaintance, as I can’t refer to her as a friend, because she didn’t value, nor recognize the blessing that I was in her life. Well, she contacted me to re-connect and expected me to allow her back into my life, because she recently had a loss of a family member, but spirit advised me that she hadn’t changed, i.e. the same horrible behavior, and no Self- discipline. So, as I have been working on setting better boundaries with individuals in my life, she expected us to go back to what our prior relationship was, and I couldn’t except that because there was no acknowledgement of her prior behavior, or an simply apology. She said, No Judgement, that she wanted to discuss her feelings, but she never addressed the fact that she offended me, but chose to repeat the same behavior, I gave her grace, but she was still operating in her EGO, trying to avoid the problem. Sometimes, individuals expect us to allow them to display the same bad behavior and be rewarded for their issues. She was trying to re-connect because she valued me but only wanted me to provide comfort for her. My job is not to comfort her, but to make her feel better, that’s something that she still needs to develop. I prayed about this as she brings energetic confusion, to my life. The first thing that she tried to do was evade responsibility for her behavior, then she proceeded to gaslight me, blaming me for the situation, it made me upset because she expected me to be accountable for her feelings, and emotions that was the last straw for me. I haven’t spoken to her for over a year, my life had been extremely peaceful, and she brings me no joy, just confusion, stress, and a very disingenuous energy. Why would I allow that back into my life? I replied that I wasn’t responsible for how she felt, or for processing her emotions, I wasn’t wrong, not that I proclaim to be right all the time, but when someone tries to return to your life they should have changed, right? She attempted to control the narrative, blame me for the situation and repeat the same exact behavior that made me disconnect from her in the first place, these behaviors aren’t negotiable to me, because NONE of her situations, emotions, or feelings were anything that I personally needed to address, people want us to be accountable for them, but don’t want to except the TRUTH about anything! I refuse to entertain that behavior, as I wasn’t the one who caused it. In the past, I allowed it, but after a year of having my peace back, why would I except that from someone who didn’t respect my value or me, or recognized my feelings, and emotions, when she displayed the chaos that she brought to me, she continues to play the role of a victim, but it’s my choice if I want to re-engage with her. Sometimes and most times we must choose US and have the courage to walk away from a train wreck before it runs over you, I’m not judging her, just stating my personal Truth! I pray that she reflects and changes but that’s not my problem, or responsibility to heal her life, she must change but not over here. You can only help someone who wants to be helped. I learned my lesson and acquired wisdom from that relationship as difficult as it was, and I gave her grace even when she gave me none! Shalom
